In Situ : Wood and New Technologies workshop was organized in collaboration with the VHUTEMAS -institute in Moscow. The workshop revived the multidisciplinary workshop tradition of this old modernist institute of art and architecture. The theme of this research session was to explore bending plywood without applying heat - through the natural attributes of timber. Digital design and fabrication tools aided the process, which resulted into two installation.

The installation lying on the ground was built by bending strips of plywood accurately between each other. Based on a curvature analysis implemented in the design phase, the overall shape was divided into parts. The hanging installation was built by bending singular veneer slices. The shape of this installation is based on the notion of tension created by a double-curved warped geometry.
