The Crossbreeder -structural installation came to place during a Digital Design and Fabrication workshop that I ran in the Tampere University of Technology. Crossbreeder is shaped by four identical variations of a simple plywood component, with the size of the opening in the component shifting. the structure is based on simple finger-joints. Together the numerous components resemble the fractal-like structure of a snowflake. After a certain number of components are joint together, the structure becomes self-stabilized. the whole installation is a kind of structural puzzle - known in Finnish as ”pirunnyrkki”.
